Have you ever heard anyone say, "Well, I always considered myself a Christian" or "Mom always considered herself a Seventh-day Adventist" or "I always considered myself to be a good person" or...
And their point is?
Let's take it to a more neutral issue. Suppose you always considered yourself to be the very best basketball player in the world. So what? Are the San Antonio Spurs convinced of the same thing? Do the Detroit Pistons quake in their Nikes at the thought of playing against you?
Self-delusion is a very powerful pseudo-reality. It guarantees us of one thing-
As long as we cherish it there is no way the real truth can cut through.
That's one excellent reason for being an active part of a healthy church family fellowship. In that venue caring people who open to Heaven's way of viewing things hold each other accountable, in love, to what really is true and what is best.
Do you have such a support net? Do you have caring, growing folks who will walk with you to the future that God has visioned for you?
We're convinced that this is the kind of place where this can get done... And life has proven that this is no self-delusion for us.
